Shakespeare Monologue Memory Game

Did I hear you say you like Shakespeare? That’s handy, ’cause Big Will was the greatest playwright in the English language AND the history of Western Theatre, that’s all. No biggie. If you’re a secret Shakespeare fan and don’t like telling others, that’s okay, too. The word’s been getting out for 400 years now that this cat wrote some heavy stuff that even teenagers enjoy – like Romeo and Juliet, the greatest love story ever told. I could go on, but I won’t. You get the picture.

By the way, how’s your memory? You’ll need a good one to play this game. This is a memory game where you’ll need to match the characters from one of Shakespeare’s 37 plays with the famous monologue they delivered. As you probably already know, monologues are speeches spoken by a single character, referred to throughout history by their opening line – sort of an unofficial monologue title.

The most famous monologue of all is “To be, or not to be”, closely followed by another famous Shakespearean monologue “All the world’s a stage”. Guess what? Both of these monologues are in this puzzle. The question is, do you know who said them? Or which Shakespeare play were they in? Better still, when the tiles flip over again, can you remember exactly where they were on the board? When you strike a match, a pop-up will appear revealing the source of the monologue and its context – sort of a cool way to teach you stuff you may not have known, without the boring lecture.

How quickly can you match all the tiles on the board? You may need to refresh the page, as the puzzle timer has already started. Beat your friends to the lowest time. Get thee to the Shakespeare Scene Stealers monologue puzzle, at this instant! Begone, vagabond! Enjoyeth thy puzzle!
