Interactive Theatre Challenge
When teaching the stage and other areas of the theatre, have you ever wished you could assist your students with something better than a diagram in a book? If your answer is yes, then look no further!
Here is an interactive drag-and-drop blueprint of a theatre building I have created, where your students can move named tiles into their correct positions on the diagram! What a terrific way to learn about the technical side of theatre!
For reasons that should become apparent when you view the diagram below, it will not display well on mobile devices. It is best experienced on a laptop, desktop, or in landscape view on a tablet. On mobile devices and in portrait mode on tablet devices, the tiles and diagram cannot be placed side by side, defeating the user’s ability to drag and drop in a single view.
Once you have a number of the theatre’s parts in place, the stage area on the diagram can become a little crowded. Currently, the “Lighting Grid” tile can sometimes be challenging to place. You’ll need to position it just right for the area to appear when dragging onto it. The “Theatre Terms” box on the left side is scrollable with a mouse on desktops and laptops, or a finger on touchscreens. Tiles can be dragged and dropped on all devices.
I welcome feedback on this new tool. Enjoy!
