VCE Drama Bingo puts your terminology to the test in a head-to-head race against the Bot. Do you know the difference between expressive skills and performance skills, and between climax and conflict? With more than 40 key terms covering dramatic elements, devising, play-making skills, and production areas, every game deals you a different board, so your revision never gets stale. It plays right in your browser, with no download and no sign-up. Hit Start, read the definition, and find the term before the clock beats you.
How To Play
In each game, you and the Bot are dealt a five-by-five Bingo board of tiles containing terms from the VCE Drama course. A definition is shown above the boards, and you have limited time to click the matching term on your board. There is only one guess per definition, so slow down for a second and read it properly.
A correct answer lights up your tile. A wrong answer, or a timeout, hands that turn to the Bot, and the right answer is shown on screen so you can lock it in for next time. Complete a line of tiles in any direction, across, down, or diagonally, before the Bot does, and you win.
Because the VCE Drama course has more terms than a single bingo board has tiles, some on-screen definitions belong to terms you don’t have on your board. When that happens, don’t panic. Let the clock run and use the reveal to learn it.
Pick Your Pace
There are three clocks to choose from: Relaxed at 20 seconds, Standard at 15 and Quick at 10. The faster the clock, the bigger the reward, with points multiplied by 0.75, 1, and 1.5, respectively. You can switch pace at any point, and the change takes effect on the next definition. Start with Relaxed while the terms are new, then challenge yourself once you can tell TIMING from ENERGY without a second thought.
Points, Streaks and Power-Ups
The app is deliberately gamified to keep you engaged in the activity. Every correct tile scores points, with a speed bonus for quick thinking.
Chain correct answers together and your Streak Multiplier kicks in, boosting every tile by 1.5 once you reach three, doubling it at five and tripling it at seven.
Finishing a line earns a bonus, and there are extra rewards for winning without a single miss or for pipping the Bot when it is one tile from victory. A mistake never takes points away. It simply breaks your streak.
For every three correct answers in a row, you earn a Power-Up, and you can carry up to three. Use a Hint to cut the options down to five tiles, buy yourself five extra seconds, or raise a Shield that protects your streak from your next miss. Power-ups cost points, so spend them wisely.
Rank Up From Audience to Director
All the points you score across games are added together, and they move you up the ranks. Begin as Audience, then become an Usher, Understudy, Chorus member, Supporting Role, and Lead Role, then aim for the top spot as Director. Your Profile screen shows where you stand and how close you are to the next rank.
Eleven achievements are waiting too. Earn Photographic Memory by answering three definitions in under three seconds each. Win without missing once for Clean Sweep. Or beat the Bot after it reaches four in a line and you are the Comeback Kid.
Study Mode: Fix Your Weak Spots
The game keeps track of every term you miss. After each match, a Terms to Revisit panel lists those terms with their definitions, which makes a handy last-minute reminder. Once eight terms have built up, Study mode opens. It deals you a board made up only of the terms you have missed, and each correct answer removes a term from your list. It is a quick, targeted way to turn weak spots into strengths.
Class Challenge: One Code, One Board
Teachers can also assign the same task to the whole class. Choose Class Challenge, press Generate Code, and read the five-character code to the class. When students type it in, they all play the same game, with the same boards and definitions in the same order. The pace is locked to Standard so scores are comparable, and each student’s best score is saved against that code. It works well as a starter activity or a friendly contest.
Sneaky Bot Mode in VCE Drama Bingo
Want some extra pressure? Turn on Sneaky Bot mode, and the Bot will take an extra tile every four turns. A pop-up announces each sneaky move, so you will never confuse it with a real answer. Sneaky Bot mode is switched off in Class Challenge to keep every game the same.
Replayability
There are more terms in the course than tiles on the board, so each game shows a different mix. Learning the terms is Stage 1. Applying them in context is Stage 2. Repetition is the best form of memorisation, so play a few rounds each week and watch your recall improve.
Sound, Fullscreen and Devices
The game starts silent, so switch Sound on when you are ready for chimes, a countdown tick in the last three seconds, and a bugle fanfare for a win. The game works best on a laptop or desktop because of the number of tiles on the board. A Fullscreen button appears whenever your browser supports it. Students in the classroom are advised to enter Fullscreen mode for the best user experience. You never need to create an account. Your progress is stored in your browser on your device, so remember, it will not sync to another device or browser.
